When it rains it pours, and it must be raining a lot in Scandinavia because this region is proving to be quite the fertile breeding ground for quality, innovative, and soulful electronic music of all styles, tempos, and persuasions. This time around our never ending quest for the perfect beat lands us back in Copenhagen, Denmark for the gorgeous debut single from Elements of Soul. Elements of Soul is a collaborative effort between heralded local producers Tonny Svensson & Jens Minke of Universal Funk (Svek/April Records) and Classen Collective (JCR Records) fame and up and coming London based vocalist Mia Taylor who also holds down a regular gig as an actress on a very popular UK daytime soap series. The journey begins with "Axwell's Star Beach" version (A1) a simply sublime and summery deep house anthem that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of Naked Music artists like the Petal Pushers and Blue Six. A pulsating analog bass groove, soothing jazz guitars, and bright bubbling keys set the proper mood for Mia's sultry and soul drenched vocal delivery.The "San Francisco' mix (A2) is a bouncy, stripped down dub version complete with a beefed up baseline, swaying percussion, some choice vocal bits and a long intros and outros for your mixing pleasure. The B1 remix comes courtesy of Paper music's house heroes, Crazy Penis, who steer the track in a deep, sleazy and dubbed out direction. Utilizing old school drum claps, a vintage subsonic baseline, swirling echoed synths, some killer live funk guitars and a delightful vocal hook, the lads deliver a timeless mix infusing layer after layer of deep house atmosphere with a dub inspired production aesthetic. Last but certainly not least,Guidance enlists deep house revivalists Soularis to work that voodoo that they so so well and they do not disappoint, delivering a stellar big room vocal mix that maintains the soulful essence of the original and injects it with a healthy dose of pure dance floor energy.
